#PTchat attempts to see through education’s distinct, but equally important lenses from week to week. Below are those who facilitate the weekly discussion. Follow them and connect often.


Zak Malamed @ZakMal - Student

Zak is an 18-year-old advocate for the student voice in education policy. He is the organizer of the #StuVoice Twitter chats and StuVoice.org. These efforts focus on uniting and centralizing the student voice. Malamed served as high school Class President for three years and Student Government President for one year. In 2012, he received both the NASSP/Herff Jones Principal's Leadership Award and awards from the Long Island Press for his work as a high school journalist. Gwen Pescatore @GPescatore25 - Parent

Dana Sirotiak @Sirotiak02 - Teacher

Dana is a 7th grade Social Studies Teacher at Frank R. Joe Mazza @Joe_Mazza - Principal

Joe is a sixth-year lead learner at Knapp Elementary School in suburban Philadelphia. He's currently in the final year of a dissertation study at the University of Pennsylvania studying school principals' use of social media, and the impact this use has on home-school partnerships. He writes his own blog, eFACE Today, as well as thoughts for Edutopia, Connected Principals and Parent Involvement Matters. Joe strongly believes that investing daily in face to face communications are the key or "home button" for educators and leaders looking to maximize their family engagement efforts. Dr. Steve Constantino @SMConstantino - Superintendent

Steve is superintendent of Williamsburg-James City County School District in Williamsburg, Virginia. He has traveled extensively as a speaker, capacity-builder and leader in the arena of family engagement working in hundreds of schools in hundreds of districts on four different continents. He is the author of several books focusing on family engagement and his new book, which centers on family engagement standards is due out this fall.
